The Rusted Bean Coffee Shop coming to the town of Goddard is unique in many different ways. It will be ran by Christy Reeder who says, “Goddard is where I wanted to put new roots down. I look forward to partnering with different foundations and other community events to support the people in our community. I want it to be a place where it is fun to work, and I'm passionate about creating a space where people can come and feel comfortable and at home. I want people to leave feeling valued, seen, connected, and I want to create a safe haven, but also a space that serves food and drinks we crave!” The Rusted Bean will have Lotus energy drinks and food along with the rest of the yummy drinks they have to offer. Their Lotus energy drinks have the same kick to them as all of the other energy drinks you love just without the crash!

The Rusted Bean Coffee Shop has had a very interesting way of coming about. Owner Christy Reeder was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas and returned home after spending twenty-three years in the big city of Seattle. A lot of people who have been to Seattle have been overwhelmed by the coffee scene there, but Christy Reeder said that when she returned to Wichita she really missed the coffee scene. When she moved back in 2009 she knew that she wanted to own a coffee shop but the scene wasn’t here yet. “I had dreamt of one day owning my own but in 2009 I didn’t think the market was here, but in a few years more and more Starbucks were opening and that helped open that market.”

After twenty-seven years of working in the dental field Mrs. Reeder retired to pursue her dream. After two years of planning and finding the perfect location in the small town of Goddard Kansas we are expected to have The Rusted Bean open this October. Mrs. Reeder said the reason she chose Goddard for her business is because it is a “Small Town with a big heart and they love their community”

When asked if she was worried about how much business she will receive opening now with the three new coffee places popping up in Goddard she replied, “Well it is a risk but you don’t get any rewards without taking a risk and competition makes you better.” Mrs. Reeder is also going to be looking for staff members from the community.
