Staff Highlight: Paula

Paula was a school counselor at Maize High School for 30 years before she decided to retire. However, it didn’t take long before Eisenhower High School chased her down and asked her to come join the EHS counseling team. Eisenhower’s counseling team lost two members this school year, Kayla Russel who moved away and Cecilia “CC” Friedel who went on maternity leave, so we were in need of two new people to fill these roles. Paula was asked to step in to be a long term substitute for CC and she was very excited to take on this unique opportunity.

Since Paula has been here she has loved learning about the differences and similarities between the two schools. She also has loved getting to meet a brand new group of staff and students and making new connections with them. When asked how her experience has been so far she said, “It has been perfect, I love it, everyone has been so friendly.” She can’t wait to keep meeting new students and staff and making a difference here at EHS.

After she is done Paula plans to substitute occasionally but she is really excited to have more free time. Paula loves to play tennis and travel and she enjoys having more time and freedom to spend with her friends.
